We are very picky about the tutors we hire.
They have to have achieved a Grade 9 in maths, and have all passed a rigorous interview to demonstrate they can explain maths clearly. They are all then trained to provide effective follow up questions to cement each student's understanding.

Our tutors are either in sixth-form or university, putting them in the perfect position to offer unique and invaluable insights in how to do as well as possible in your GCSE maths exams, with tips on methods, mindset, and time management, which only students would be able to offer.

And of course, they can (and should!) ask their personal Merit Maths tutor about any questions they are struggling with that are on the worksheets.
Our story
I just don't get it...

...is something we often found ourselves saying during GCSE maths lessons. It was embarrassing to ask too many questions in class, and teachers were only available during school hours to answer questions.

A lot of maths content can be found for free online on sites like YouTube. This is useful for a base understanding of a topic, but what we really needed was one-to-one guidance about our particular struggles.
We needed extra support, and looked to our friends for help.

Our peers knew the curriculum and the question style inside out, and their patience in explaining questions was invaluable. Being shown new methods and having open back and forth conversations that got to the heart of what we didn’t understand helped both of us achieve Grade 9s in our GCSEs.
